Buy Your Values Update: Hosting LA Climate Week Event
On April 14th, Buy Your Values will host an official LA Climate Week event at UCLA. As part of the event, BYV will launch a new app just for UCLA students, in collaboration with GetGreen. The app will help students monitor and reduce their carbon footprint and take other tangible actions to reduce their environmental footprint. Because of BYV’s focus on worker rights, the UCLA version of the app, typically focused narrowly on environmental actions, will be broadened to include purchasing habits students can adopt to reduce widespread inequality and exploitation in the garment industry.
The Climate Week event, titled “People, Planet, Fashion,” will also feature interactive booths including eco-zine making, a clothing swap, and a clothing repair station.
